Da oltre due anni il servizio Clone, che altro non è che un secondo server a disposizione di tutti i Clienti sul quale clonare/copiare i propri domini, è stato offerto gratuitamente, in tutto questo tempo non è stato preso in considerazione se non da una minima percentuale dei Clienti.

Per tanto visto e considerato che mantenere un secondo server ha comunque un costo, che il servizio poi non venga affatto considerato ci rimane difficile continuare ad offrirlo gratis, se poi ogni volta che dovrebbe entrare in azione comporta lavorare comunque per il recupero dei dati solo perché non è stata usata questa fantastica opportunità, come si dovrebbe aver capito non si tratta di un semplice backup ma della copia esatta di ogni dominio, account email e relativi messaggi giacenti, setting del dominio e persino i log, insomma tutto.

Il servizio Clone nei prossimi giorni sarà ampliato e si potrà scegliere tra la clonazione di un solo dominio o dell’intero account con tutti i domini in esso contenuti, il servizio Clone quindi diventerà un servizio opzionale e non più gratuito, ed avrà un costo promozionale di Euro 18/anno per il singolo dominio ed Euro 90/anno per ogni account indipendentemente da quanti domini contiene, per coloro che sono interessati contattino il Supporto Tecnico via ticket o via e-mail.

• Chi integra il servizio Clone nel proprio account e/o dominio avrà due copie alla settimana programmate dal nostro Staff Tecnico
• Potrà clonare il dominio ogni volta che ne ha bisogno senza limiti

Purtroppo questa decisione arriva dopo molti avvisi e consigli di utilizzare il Clone per avere i dati sempre in copia e pronti per essere usati e messi online nel giro di pochi minuti in caso di necessità, malgrado tutti i nostri sforzi per offrire le migliori soluzioni ed indipendenza per la gestione dei dati, alcuni Clienti hanno avuto di che lamentarsi e questo malgrado non abbiano mai usato il servizio Clone, per cui sembra di intuire che non venisse usato e considerato perché gratuito!!

Nel caso di problemi al server Main avere il sito in copia nel server Clone magari due giorni prima del cambio, riduce o azzera ogni tipo di disagio dovuto al cambio server, che sia per un guasto tecnico o attacco hacker, in molti casi o almeno quelli che lo hanno usato con regolarità, il passaggio al Clone diventa quasi invisibile, mentre per chi non lo ha usato al passaggio dal Main al Clone può ritrovarsi il sito non aggiornato e messaggi di posta datati di alcune settimane, questo perché in assenza di richiesta la clonazione viene effettuata in modalità random.

Quindi nei prossimi giorni si potrà clonare a richiesta il sito solo se integrato il Clone nel servizio di hosting attivato.

Per tutti coloro che decideranno di non garantirsi con il servizio Clone sarà comunque offerta la copia Clone in modalità random e questo vuol dire che in caso di cambio server la copia potrebbe essere anteriore di alcuni mesi, inoltre la copia di backup del dominio, ma ricordiamo che in caso di problemi ripristinare il backup può richiedere molte ore fino ad alcuni giorni, in caso di cambio server e relativi problemi ad esso associati non saranno considerate nessuna lamentela e nessuna richiesta di aiuto per il recupero dei dati, chi avrà il Clone sarà garantito chi non lo avrà potrà vedersi il sito online datato in attesa del recupero della copia di backup.

La nuova versione di WordPress 2.6 rilasciata nei giorni scorsi oltre che ad aver migliorato alcuni aspetti ed aggiunto dei nuovi include anche un novità assoluta, ora è anche Turbo, nello specifico non ha niente a che fare con i motori rombanti anche se con un motore ha a che fare, infatti si tratta di utilizzare Google Gears che offre l’opportunità di rendere il browser più potente con l’ausilio di nuove opzioni.

Per coloro che sono alla ricerca di un software per aumentare le prestazioni della connessione Internet per navigare il vasto mare della Rete oggi possiamo consigliare che non occorre nessun particolare programma, basta solo cambiare browser.

Via Explorer da mettere in cassetto, Firefox da tenere si scorta e per viaggiare come razzi sulla Rete scaricare ed installare Safari Apple.

Il server virtuale negli ultimi tempi pare sia stata l’evoluzione rivoluzionaria dell’hosting, non è così, è solo un modo diverso di chiamare un servizio hosting che dal “normale” servizio ha solo alcune opzioni in più e poche altre differenze sostanziali.

Vediamo di cosa stiamo parlando a grandi linee.

Server virtuale che cos’è o meglio che cosa non è:
si tratta di una partizione di un server dedicato sul quale attivare i propri domini, le proprie applicazioni e software nei limiti consentiti dalle risorse disponibili, inoltre è possibile frazionare le stesse risorse e condividerle con più domini.

Vediamo cosa è il “solito classico” hosting:
si tratta di una partizione di un server dedicato sul quale sarà attivato il vostro dominio, sul quale pubblicherete le vostre pagine e potrete usare applicazioni e software nei limiti consentiti dalle risorse disponibili, non sempre ma in molti casi e questi dipendono dal piano scelto è possibile frazionare le stesse risorse e condividerle con più domini quanti indicati nel piano.

La differenza? Semplicemente non c’è!

Si tratta solo di una alchimia verbale con la quale dare l’illusione al Cliente di comprare qualcosa di nuovo o nella maggior parte dei casi vendere praticamente lo stesso prodotto almeno nella tipologia ma con costi più elevati, solo perché l’hosting a buon mercato o semi-gratis come spesso accade non è più possibile venderlo perché non rende, ovviamente, ed ecco la parola magica con la quale chiedere più soldi per lo stesso prodotto, quello venduto fino a poco prima a prezzi ridicoli ma che oggi non sono più sostenibili.

Le parole non fanno la differenza, almeno realmente ma la fanno se le si ascolta, a volte rifletterci sopra e magari con qualche info in più può essere di aiuto almeno per valutare e scegliere al di là delle lusinghe fatte al cervello con l’uso delle sole parole.

Chi crede ancora che ad usare il blog siano solo ragazzini con i brufoli si sbaglia, è ormai pratica di molte aziende integrare nel proprio sito Internet un blog, questo per le più svariate applicazioni in particolare per comunicare ed interagire con i propri Clienti, lanciare nuovi prodotti o comunicati.

Blog non vuol dire solo “chiacchiere”.

In alcuni casi si nota che le aziende ed attività commerciali in genere preferiscono creare il proprio sito web basato proprio sul blog quando è da creare da zero o convertire il vecchio sito, al quale integrare eventuali aree statiche di approfondimento, quindi siamo oltre il semplice interesse esplorativo questo è proprio un nuovo modello di fare business online, almeno per coloro che hanno già capito …
